Recent Information of 2016 Honda Ridgeline Redesign, Specification, and Overview
One thing is for sure, this all new Honda Ridgeline will still be a mid size pickup truck, a type of vehicle thought to be on the decrease these past few years. Only after the arrival of the new Chevy Colorado that the market for mid size pickup truck began to be lively again, not long after the arrival of the popular and hyped Chevy Colorado, Honda joins the fray, and announced that they are going to produce the new Honda Ridgeline.
The Honda Ridgeline will be redesign for its 2016 version, Honda said, although what parts are going to be remodel and how the exterior of this car is going to be changed is still very unclear. From the sketches given by Honda and several unofficial spy photos, 2016 Honda Ridgeline exterior design is still unclear, but the new Honda Ridgeline is undoubtedly a midsize pickup truck and it is highly anticipated will competing directly with Chevy Colorado.
Although it said to be a redesign, the dimension of the car does not seems to be that different from its predecessor; which the latest version is the 2014. From the silhouette shown in the sketches; this new Honda Ridgeline is probably using the similar unibody platform as the one used in 2016 Honda Pilot.
Unfortunately, finding the information about its exterior design is already pretty difficult, there is no information whatsoever about its interior. Hopefully Honda will listen to its consumer and changed the interior design found in 2014 Honda Ridgeline that most people don’t find very comfortable. The interior is also one of the most important factors on why 2014 Honda Ridgeline fails to impress on the automobile market at its time; with less than 20,000 units sold around the world.
As for the performance, because this new Honda Ridgeline is using the same unibody design as Honda Pilot, 2016 Honda Ridgeline engine is also expected to share similar type of engine as the 2016 Honda Pilot. The rumored engine is the 3.5L six cylinder gasoline engine; this engine is capable of generating 280 horsepower and 262 pound feet of torque. It is still unclear whether it will also use the same transmission system as Honda Pilot or not; which are six-speed automatic transmission system and nine-speed automatic transmission system.
From the announcement a few years ago, Honda said that they are planning to released this new Honda Ridgeline “within two years” in which 2016 Honda Ridgeline release date is probably at the end of 2015 or early 2016.
Based on the information in 2016 Honda Ridgeline redesign, specification, and overview, it’s interesting to see how it goes against the hyped Chevy Colorado and the best selling Toyota Tacoma.
